Residences
Dalhousie University offers two options for residence life: Traditional and Non-Traditional residences. The links on the left side of the page will provide a brief description of each individual accommodation option.
Traditional Residences
Traditional residences offer dorm-style single and double rooms. You can request a single room, or share with a roommate.
In Traditional residence, you will have an opportunity to make new friends, learn about other cultures, attitudes and ideas, and to become involved in intramural sports, social and educational events. (Note - a meal plan is mandatory for all traditional residences.)
Traditional residences include: Risley Hall, Howe Hall, Shirreff Hall, Eliza Ritchie Hall, Gerard Hall, O'Brien Hall and the Mini Residences.
Non-Traditional Residence
If you want a more private and independent lifestyle, Dalhousie owns and operates a number of apartments and houses which may interest you. If you choose one of these buildings, you'll continue to enjoy many of the advantages of residence life such as support services, access to residence programs and facilities and an option to purchase a meal plan.
Non-Traditional residences include: Glengary Apartments, Residence Houses and the Graduate House. Apply early as space is limited.
General Information
All students in residence are required to sign an 8-month Residence Agreement (September to April inclusive). This is a contract between the student (or legal guardian if student is under 19 years of age) and the University outlining the regulations and responsibilities of living in residence.
